Check if email account is working through POP

At the start of the Project I would like tho check if the POP account I'm going to use is still valid.
For that I used a "Receive emails" action with empty fields. This used to work but now, this action is also looking for emails and fails all the time.

What other options do I have to check if the email account is still valid?
