are variables in ProjectMaker objects with members?

when I use a variable in an if statement in Projectmaker, is the variable like an object with members like in C# or JS?
Or it has no members at all and it is just a variable?

I have tried to use a "length" property in an if statement. But it seems, that doesnot work. So I have replaced that with own C# code. However I was wondering, if these variables have any members or not.
