{-Profile.Name-} question

I have a template set up to register, but once in a while I get user name already exists. So here is what I did:

Input user name
Check for "user name is taken" message
Added if
If user name exists, go back and enter a new one
If not continue filling out form.

Now, I have used {-Profile.Name-} for this, but it will simply enter the same name over and over again.

Is there a way to get a different value each time?
