How to Build templates for Forum Platform Types

I'm interested I creating generic templates for profile creation that correspond to each individual forum platform type, namely vbulletin, PunBB and so on. Any idea as to where should I start? Should I have to go under the hood and start from the page source coding?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
