Would You give discounts for updates if that would be your bet?
And then expect all users just wait when updates will be there an buy them only at this time, okay I'm exaggerated a little bit, but I'm sure 90% would wait for discount period, what again leads to Your marketing strategy.
ZennoLab could make prices like 120$ per 6 months of updates and then give a discount to 90$ every birthday, so in general, it would be that sam, but the only problem is that money flow would be focused at only birthday time, what again is not a very smart move.
